COL & DAVID ALLISON, dual Australian Champion breeders, have represented NSW with 13 birds of five varieties at the Nationals. Their consistently winning stud of big-framed birds has produced innumerable champions at every level: Dominant Pieds (a Grand Champion and three BSNSW wins), Yellowfaced Blues (Australian Champion, 1993), Spangles (Australian Champion 1998, 3rd 1997), Opalines (3rd & 8th at Australian Championships), Dark Factor (Six Breeder Champ. wins at BSNSW since 1992). In 1998, their first year with Lacewings, Col and son David represented NSW.
In 2001 Col and David sold all their birds but have since acquired a number of Texas Clearbodies which they are breeding for the club.
RICHARD ABRAHAM first won Grand Champion as an Intermediate breeder in 1997. Since then Richard has gone on to take a further four of these top awards. Specialising in the Opaline varieties Richards perseverance was rewarded in 1998 when his Opaline Cock was first at the Inter-Club Challenge Show and continued on to run fourth at the Australian National Championships. At the same show Richard was award seventh place in the Opaline AOSV variety. His strength with this variety is demonstrated by the fact that he was able to go for almost two years unbeaten.
MICK BANISTER specialises in Recessive Pieds, Spangles and top quality Normals. Since 1993 he has won gold, silver and bronze medals with Recessive Pieds at the Interclub Challenge Show. In 1996 he won the top award for this variety at the Australian National Championship. He has taken out innumerable major awards including Grand Champion with a Spangle (1998), Best Recessive Pied at the BSNSW (1998) and Grand Champion and best Spangle at the highly competitive Northern NSW Annual Show (1999). In 2000, along with many other top awards, he won the Rare and Specialist Trophy for best Recessive Pied.
CRAIG BUCKINGHAM maintains a stud of top quality Normals, Yellowface Blues, Dominant Pieds, Cinnamons, Opalines, Spangles and most recently Lacewings. He won the gold medal for his Yellowfaceds at the Inter-Club Challenge Show in 1998 and 2000. In 2000 his powerful Yellowfaced cobalt finished 3rd at the Nationals. In 2001 Craig won a gold Medal for his Cinnamon Opaline Cock which went on to finish seventh at the National Show. From a stud known for its consistent high quality and great fertility Craig has continued with his success winning a number of major awards including Best Dominant Pied and Best AOSV Opaline at the 2002 BSNSW Annual Show.
MARK CHIDEL has been breeding exhibition budgerigars for a decade but has had his greatest success over the past five years. During this time he has won at least one Grand Champion in every year with a total of eight of these top awards overall (all at Open Shows). Seven gold medals and a bronze at Inter-Club Challenge Show have accompanied this success. This Year Mark won Grand Champion at the 2002 Cumberland and Western Area Annual Shows. Of the four birds that represented NSW at this years National Championships, Mark won a 1st with his Opaline and a 2nd with an ASOV Opaline.
Mark
is renowned for the distinct look he has been able to develop in his birds. Built predominantly around Binks, Pilkington and
Mannes bloodlines, Marks birds are known for their width of head, face and terrific
direction feather.
JUDY
CLARK
began breeding budgerigars in 1996 and was successful right from the start. In her very first show (Northside 1997) she won
Champion Novice. Other major awards have
included Champion Novice at the 2000 B.S.N.S.W Annual Show, Western Area Annual Show and
Best Yellow Face at Western Area Annual Show 2002. Judys
success has now seen her win her way into Intermediate.
PETER DODD is the dominant force in the Blackeyed variety in Australia. With countless state team representatives he has Four-times gone on to take out the top award at the Australian National Championships with this variety. The strength in the Dodd stud extends beyond this variety and has been demonstrated by his win with an Opaline also at the National Titles. He has won countless major awards including the much sort after BSNSW Grand Champion prize.
ANDRE OZOUX maintains a powerful stud specialising in Albinos and Spangles. He has represented NSW a total of 16 times at the Australian National Championship Show winning on one of these occasions with a Spangle. In 1998 his gold medal winning Albino from the Inter-club Challenge Show went on to finish 2nd in the Australia. This year Andre won Champion Old Hen with an Albino at the BSNSW Annual show.
ALLAN REID has a stud based on the finest English and German bloodlines. In twenty-five years of exhibition Allan has taken many top awards with a range of varieties including a number of Grand Champions. The most notable of these was his win at the 1995 BSNSW Annual Show.
MICHAEL SCIBERRAS is a specialist Recessive Pied breeder who has won at all levels of competition with this variety. In 1988 Michael won Best in Show at the All Pied Show with a Recessive Pied. In 1991 his gold medal winning Recessive Pied from the Inter-Club Challenge Show went on to take out the top award at the Australian National Championship. In 1997 Michael achieved the rare feat of winning Grand Champion with a Recessive Pied at an open show. The strength of the Sciberras stud is further demonstrated by his two Grand Champion wins, which includes a win at the highly prestigious BSNSW Annual Show.
